I’m Chris Stein, Associate Professor in the Media Arts and Technology department at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. I don’t have a personal web site right now as Joe does (and yes I teach web design, shameful) so I’ll give some details here.
I came to teaching through the side door so to speak. I have a BA in psychology from Yale University and then switched gears to get a master’s in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU. I worked as a new media developer for a few years which basically meant I did anything digital I could get my hands on from web sites to programming Excel® spreadsheets, to video, to Flash® games.
I started teaching as an adjunct at BMCC during that period and grew to love it and ended up with a full time position. I have a great interest and belief in the use of technology in education. I incorporate a number of technologies in my teaching like screencasting, blogs, podcasting, even Blackboard Learn™. But I’m more interested in how they are used than what I use.
Getting in touch with me …
Asynchronous
(I can check and answer it more frequently than my BMCC email)

I’m Joe Ugoretz, Associate Dean of Teaching, Learning and Technology at Macaulay Honors College.
For some brief biographical information, you can check the “expo site” that I made for online students some time back.
If you have a question or need to reach me, it’s easy.
- My email address is [email protected] .
- My office phone number is 212-729-2920
- (my office is at Macaulay, at 35 W 67 Street)
- I’m jugoretz on googletalk
- and jugoretz on skype (we’ll do some “skype your professor” office hour sessions, if you like)
- And jugoretz on twitter, too
With all of that, I think the best way to get in touch with me is by email–I always answer emails in less than 24 hours. Sometimes much less.
